Aginah Shares a Special Recipe!
This month is the first launching of the Blog. Some of you are sistahfriends/sistahclients and have been close to my heart for over thirty years and longer. I can’t believe in that time I produced a documentary and authored the book "CHOICEZ" all while still doing hair. Time doesn’t wait for no one. I’m having fun sharing with you all!
Summer is here and it’s HOT!!!, so pour yourself a cold glass of lemonade, turn down the AC and relax with a good book “CHOICEZ”.
Here’s a little something a friend shared with me:
Recipe for "Bringing Closer to What I Want Ingredients":
1 cup of make peace with your past choices
2 cups Stress
1 1/2 teaspoons of no more Guilt
2 heaping cups of making better choices
3/4 tablespoon of Urgency
A dash of “me first”
3 heaping cups of Faith
Directions:
Fold ingredients gently into a bowl. Mix vigorously and add a few tears. You’ll sweat a little as you knead the dough. Pack it firmly between your hopes and dreams and form into a perfect little ball. Sprinkle it with a little faith, rolling the ball in the flour until fully covered. Place it under a veil of belief and allow it to rise. Put it in an oven that has been pre-set at the perfect temperature for the heat of trials and tribulations. Allow it to brown under the warmth of closing the door to the past choices. Remove to see the brighter future and allow to cool in the confidence of making better choices. Garnish with glory to the creator. Arrange neatly on a platter of thankfulness and serve to friends, families and, oh don’t forget the men . . . invite them too!

Aginah's Healthy Beauty Corner "Working from the Inside Out"
Some people may say Aginah usually talks about how to rebuild damaged hair. And they're right, because I am a hair health educator and the care of the hair has been my passion for over 30 years. But we miss the bigger picture when we focus on hair first.
Your face is your letter of introduction. It is the starting point for the beautiful you. Now look in the mirror to examine it face-to-face. No makeup can hide an unhealthy care for face. I noticed that myself when looking at photos of me wearing eye makeup to cover up extreme darkness under my eyes and I'm not talking about circles. I could actually see the sickness glaring through the makeup the coverup. So I ask myself what's wrong with this picture. Something was going on within. I was sick. Though I began treating myself internally with natural supplements, herbs and a healthy diet, I had to also care for the external.
The eyes' are the windows of the soul.
Chamomile-Rose Replenishing Eye Oil
The skin around our eyes is fragile and benefits from light and moisturizing treatments. Chamomile and Rose essential oils are anti-inflammatory and restorative for this delicate area. Essentials oils can be purchased at any Wholefood Market or Health Food Store.
5 drops Chamomile essential oil
5 drops Rose essential oil
1 ounce Flaxseed oil or Jojoba oilCombine essential oils with Flaxseed oil or Jojoba oil and store in a one-ounce glass bottle with a dropper top. To use the oil, cleanse your face and leave your skin slightly damp. Apply 2 drops of the oil to your ring finger (you’ll apply less pressure with this finger than with your index finger), and with a gentle tapping motion, smooth the oil beneath your eye and onto the area just beneath the brow bone. Do not apply oil directly to your eyelids, as it can migrate into your eyes and cause irritation. Never assume that an essential oil will have the same properties as credited to the whole plant from which it is obtained.

"Choicez-How They Impact Our Lives," Order Today Online!

CHOICEZ is the true story of Aginah Carter-Shabazz, one of Philadelphia’s most prominent cosmetologist who learned the hard way about the high cost of pursuing the "fabulous" life as the girlfriend of a hustler and ex-wife of a Muslim minister, and in her mid life crisis a jewel thief. Reality set in when her boyfriend and a rival drug kingpin were killed in a massacre by the so-called black mafia inside Club Harlem, in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Years later, Carter-Shabazz’s own personal transformation came too late to save her daughter, Nas, from walking in her footsteps as a young woman. As a result, Nas was charged with a capital murder that could have left her facing the death penalty for a murder she neither committed nor orchestrated.
Though, Nas, Aginah’s daughter, had nothing to do with this killing, she was charged solely as a prosecutorial tactic to convict an innocent woman to pressure her to reveal information about her previous boyfriend’s illegal activities. Never one to shrink back from a just cause, Aginah conveyed strength of purpose to women of all ages. Whether this effort will succeed and Nas will be given a second chance to make another choice about her own life awaits the reader in the exciting climax of this book. ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Aginah Carter-Shabazz was born on Mothers’ day in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on May 13, 1950 to Donald and Elizabeth Glenn-Carter. She began her professional career in 1978 as a “sleuth” who was bound and determined to uncover the mysteries of having beautiful hair "working from the inside out." Aginah opened several hair salons complete with her own line of Aginah’s Herbal Hair Products in Philadelphia. She has served her loyal clients for over three decades. Ms. Carter-Shabazz’s entrepreneurial thinking has taken her creativity to a whole new dimension. In 2003, Aginah was inspired to direct and produce Justice For Her, an award winning documentary following her daughter’s arrest, trial and acquittal in a capital punishment case. Today her motto, "working from the inside out," has taken on an even greater meaning and a far wider perspective. Ms. Carter-Shabazz uses the message to influence the ideals of young women, helping them to understand that the choices they make in their hearts and minds will affect the rest of their lives as well as their ability to enjoy positive and productive futures.
Aginah Carter-Shabazz has received a large amount of press over the years. She has received numerous leadership awards, including the State Treasurer’s Award to African-American Female Entrepreneurs in recognition of her contribution to society and the West Philadelphia Economic Development Award.
